Beaches

The most popular white sandy beaches on Aruba are Palm Beach and Eagle Beach on the northwest coast. Palm Beach is dotted with exotic palm trees and especially recognizable by the luxurious high-rise hotels and many restaurants, shops and water sport facilities. In Palm Beach it can be quite crowded but there is always something to do. Eagle Beach is more peaceful. Here you can find the typical Fofoti tree and even some pieces of untouched beach. But you can also enjoy yourself at one of the beach bars or try one of the many water sport possibilities. You’ll find more tranquillity at Baby Beach and Rodgers Beach at San Nicolas in the very south or at the beaches in the east.

Diving

Aruba has fantastic dive facilities. The complete south coast consists of coral reef, where you can find about twenty dive sites. Aruba is especially renowned for wreck diving. The waters surround the island provide no less than eleven dive friendly wrecks, like sunken airplanes and shipwrecks. The most famous of these wrecks is the Antilla. This is the biggest shipwreck of the Caribbean, which dates back to the World War II and has a length of 133 meters. Book your dive at one of the many diving schools at Palm Beach and Eagle Beach.

Paddle boarding at Hadicurari beach
Water sports

Besides the most popular water sports like diving, surfing and sailing, Aruba has a lot more to offer in and around the ocean. Paddle surfing is something that originally came from America, but is becoming more and more popular on Aruba. Paddle surfing looks easy, you’re standing on a surfboard and paddle slowly across the water. But watch out, it’s pretty tough! Also motorized water sports like jet skiing and boat trips by canoe or kayak are available on Aruba, and don’t forget to ride on the banana! The most water sports are possible at Palm Beach and Eagle Beach.

Kitesurfer on Aruba
Kite surfing

Kitesurfing becomes more and more popular on Aruba, partly because of the permanent trade wind. Learn to kite like a professional on the beautiful Caribbean Sea. You can take lessons at one of the kitesurf schools at Palm Beach and Hadicurari Beach. For higher waves and stronger winds you have to go to Boca Grandi on the southeast coast.

Relaxed on Flamingo Beach
Relaxing

Aruba is the ultimate destination to relax. Everything is possible, but you don’t have to do anything. Everywhere on the island you will recognize the laidback atmosphere. You’ll be infected by the relaxed lifestyle of the local people. On remote beaches you enjoy the sound of the waves and during a massage or yoga session you can recharge.

Dinner on the beach
Romance

A romantic stroll down the beach while the sun slowly sets into the ocean, a relaxing couples massage in a tropical setting or the feeling of sand between your toes during a private dinner for two? More than 25 restaurants on Aruba offer a romantic dinner at the beach. If you want to take it a step further, Aruba is the perfect place for a horse ride or to go parasailing together. Even in the hotel you can make your stay very romantic. A lot of hotels offer a special “romance package”. Aruba and romance are a match made in heaven!

Sailing on Aruba
Sailing

The permanent trade wind makes Aruba the perfect destination for a beautiful sail trip. When you can sail on your own, it is great to rent a boat in Oranjestad or Palm Beach. A very unique experience! But also organised boat trips on a catamaran are a lot of fun. Most of the hotels at Palm Beach and in the port of Oranjestad offer more than enough excursions to book. Generally, the food, drinks and any snorkelling equipment is included in the price. Do you think a normal sail trip is boring? You can also choose for a romantic sunset sail or dinner cruise.

Waves on Aruba
Surfing

If you come to Aruba to surf, you will not be the only one. The water sport is, just like body boarding, very popular. More advanced surfers can enjoy the rough waves at surf spots on the north coast, like the beach of Wariruri. Even faster and more powerful are the waves in the two bays of Dos Playa, which are hidden in Arikok National Park. When it is your first time surfing, the northwest side of the island is recommended. The waves at Arashi Beach and Ninki Reef in Seroe Colorado are peaceful. However, they will be higher and faster from November until February.

Relax bed at a spa
Wellness

Whether you want to enjoy a lovely massage, a beautiful manicure or a relaxing yoga session, on Aruba you can find spas and beauty centres with a wide selection of treatments. For luxurious and modern spas you have to be at Palm Beach or in one of the major hotels like The Ritz Carlton. Several hotels at Palm Beach and Eagle Beach also provide the possibility to have an open air treatment. Very unique is a treatment on water. This is possible during a boat trip to the private island of hotel Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino in Oranjestad. Several centres on Aruba use Aloe Vera that is produced on the island itself. So really a local product!

Windsurfer on the water
Windsurfing

Because of the permanent wind on Aruba, the island is very suitable for windsurfing. Do you want to learn it? Take a class at one of the many windsurf schools at Palm Beach or Hadicurari Beach. Here, the waves are relatively calm and the water is shallow. Boca Grandi, on the southeast coast is a challenge for the more professional windsurfers. The waves on the north coast are also strong.

Arikok National Park
Nature

National Park Arikok is located in the southeast of the island. Although, this is the only national park on Aruba, it covers almost 20% of the whole island. Look for the Aruban parakeet, watch herds of goats or meet different reptiles. You can visit the park in many different ways. Drive your jeep through cactus landscapes, bike to plantation Arikok or hike to the highest peak of Aruba. Also nice to visit are the stalactite caves and inactive gold mines. At the end of the day you can relax at one of the delightful beaches.
